Hezekiah and Sennacherib's siege of Jerusalem is recorded in 2 Kings 18:17ff.
Did it really happen or was it just a fable to build up the Israelites in their own eyes? Colonel Taylor found Sennacherib's prism in 1830. It is now in the British Museum. It supports the Biblical account. Inscribed on the prism are the following words: "But as for Hezekiah, the Jew, who did not bow in submission to my yoke . . . I besieged and conquered by stamping down earth ramps and then bringing up battering rams . . . Hezekiah himself I shut up like a caged bird within Jerusalem, his royal city."
