Angel Tracks in the Himalayas

Be prepared when you start this book that you will not be the same when you finish it. This book is a brilliantly written account of the work of Gary and Barbara Shepherd, who began work in Nepal in 1969 with the Magar people.

Each chapter is a stand-alone story of  God's hand at work in the lives of the Wycliffe workers and their translation helper, Baju. This makes it an excellent read for those who cannot always spend long periods reading, or who might put the book down for a while before picking it up again.

Through remarkable storytelling talent, we are given a rare insight into the lives of the Magar, their beliefs and way of life in the Himalayas. The child-like faith of Baju challenged me immensely - he never doubted the faithfulness of God, and took His Word into his heart and trusted what it said without reservation.

The latter section of this book is an invitation to journey with this family as they work through a string of tragedies and find God's mercy, strength and hope in the midst of immense darkness. I was overwhelmed with how the family was open to the Lord's leading in these desperate times, and rejoiced with them as God moved - and again shows us how He uses everything for His glory. When we do things God's way we receive His blessing, are able to overcome seemingly impossible situations, and are able to then minister to others in their time of need.
