A book review by Fiona TaylorAs a home-schooling Mum and Girls’ Brigade leader, I was very keen to try this book – a missions-focused, narrative for children about unreached people.
I wasn’t disappointed! This large format book tells the story of Little Bean, a young boy en route to visit his Grandmother in China alone (complete with disclaimer in the book that children should not give it a try themselves!).
The trip does not quite go to plan and he embarks on a journey across the country encountering Bible-less people groups. The illustrations are lovely and include icons to assist children (and adults) to remember where Little Bean has gone and with whom he has spoken – an icon for each people group which ties in to his adventure.
Each chapter has a page where children can try to find all the icons hidden in a vine, which will hold the attention of the wiggliest little people.
The children I have shared this with thus far have really enjoyed it. There is nothing so precious as sharing God’s heart for the unreached with the workers of tomorrow.
