Wycliffe Bible Translators reaches 45 Years!Looking Back or Going Forward? It is an interesting question isn’t it? On the weekend of 13th to 15th June, many of us met and celebrated the last 45 years – it was encouraging to hear some of the wonderful things that God has done! Looking back it’s great to acknowledge what’s been achieved – to give thanks for God’s faithfulness and His hand of guidance upon us and the work of Bible translation. In one sense nothing has changed over the 45 years, our mission remains the same, “to see the Scriptures made available through Bible translation to all peoples in the language they know best.” Translation Then and NowWycliffe has had some great slogans over the decades. The one that caught our attention in 1960 and took us to the Philippines the following year was “2000 tongues to go.” It was replaced by the punchy but unrealistic “Every tribe by ’85,” rephrased by some wag as “all we can do by ’92.” Now we have the “last languages initiative,” less gripping perhaps but achievable through the cooperative effort of supporters at home and teams working around the world. The Reentrant Team - book reviewTHE REENTRY TEAM is a critically important book for every church who receives returning missionaries back into their congregation, or for those in contact with overseas workers. In a very detailed and practical way, Pirolo spells out the process of re-entry – highlighting what to watch for and ways to assist. The method is drawn from Acts 14:26-28 and 15:35 where Paul and Barnabas are welcomed back into the fellowship at Antioch. Kairos: God, the Church, & the WorldThe Kairos course, a member of the Perspectives family, is predominantly run by churches to give their members a Biblical, historical, cultural and strategic view of God’s heart for this world. Through the course participants almost always discover God revealing to them, in various practical ways, something of His calling on their lives.
